POLICE CHIEF SEEKS AID FROM COUNTY.(CAPITAL REGION)

Byline: MARV CERMAK Staff writer SCHENECTADY Police Chief Michael G. Moffett said the county's $1.1 million matching cost to fund a new countywide drug/vice police unit should instead be given to existing city and town police agencies to fight crime.

He asked Mayor Frank J. Duci and the City Council to make the request to the county. ``Existing local police agencies have already demonstrated their willingness to work together to meet countywide challenges,'' Moffett said in a Monday memo to Duci and the council.
